it’s dragoncon week sir

T minus 2 days and… we are done.

Chase was going to do one more little detail thing to his Leto armor but decided not to. We are at that point. I had one more little beaded chain thing I should have added to Jessica (the part that goes around the fingers on the sleeves) but I was like eh fuck it. I want to be done LOL

This last consisted of me struggling with Padme hair, the tiara and armbands.

I finished the buns, they’re a little messy but whatev.

I sewed them onto a headband.

Then got all the tiara pieces attached and the beaded pieces added. I really struggled with trying to do the front piece of the tiara without any kind of attachment – or a more hidden attachment – and a haircomb did work decently well, but I just really wanted everything to be all one piece and I could just slap it on my head without trying to get the center piece placed JUST right every single time I put it on. So I used some black cord attached to the headband and it’s fine. I was going to try to hide the headband with my own hair but the beads will be in the way so again it’s whatev.

I don’t have any pics of the armbands but what I did is attach them all to a vertical support so the sets of 4 are all one piece, then put elastic on the inside so they can stretch when I put them on. You can see one set in the pic below.

Saturday was try on day for 3 out of 4 of the costumes.

Here’s Padme. I did also have to move the higher piece of elastic in the sleeves down about an inch because it was showing too much.

I also DID undo the top of the beaded panel – not once but twice – trying to “rescue” the upper point of the thing. Neither time really did much. But I feel better that I tried. That metal trim just was not going to cooperate – plus I think the fact that the point ends up sitting right at the top of my chest gives an optical illusion that it’s smaller than it should be when if it you held it up it was fine. Damn boobs.

Here’s Jessica’s try on…

I really should do a video showing all of the bustle points. Here it is in bustled/walking mode:

The excess length of the dress buttons up right under the zipper. Then I have 2 hand loops – one at center back and one in the side seam – if I need to lift them up more while walking. The largest veil has 2 buttons loops that attach to the back neckline of the dress which gets MOST of it up off the floor – then if I need more there’s 2 more loops at the very ends that I can either use as thumb loops or can also be attached to the buttons at the neckline – in the pic above I’m just holding what’s left up.

The small shawl attaches to the sleeves with buttons on the back. That is not really a bustle, but just more of a way to keep the shawl on my arms.

Tested walking up and down the catwalk upstairs. The platform shoes will definitely need my ankles wrapped. Dont be surprised if they dont happen and I just end up wearing the wedge boots instead.

Chase finally tried all of Luke on. Had to fix a few things – he needed another snap on the tunic and the velcro slightly moved over on one boot cover, but overall not bad. It’s all packed and ready to go now.

Leto try-on didn’t happen til Sunday when he finished doing all the strapping on the armor pieces.

Had to take in the suit on the legs a little more, sew on a few more pieces of velcro but that was all. After that all that is left is getting our hairs all cleaned up.

Here’s my hair! wish I could freeze it in these curls til Wednesday.

I don’t have any pics of Chase except this one…

He got his Leto wig cut and it looks good. Also got a general haircut and his beard trimmed.

I finally got packed:

Everything is in at this point except Chase’s armor, and regular clothes stuff.

Wednesday will be interesting. The new car is smaller than Sequoia plus we have Ash so it will definitely be playing car tetris. My bin will go all the up behind the drivers seat with that backseat folded down – garment bags on top of that – maybe can get Gene’s burger buns on top too? Wig box behind that, cooler, duffel bag on top, Ash’s bag, carrying a bag of snacks down for Cat since she’s flying… I think we’ll be good… but may have to leave mini fridge at home.

So that’s where we are at. Got a few small things to do today but not much – I apparently lost my Black Lodge mask I wear with Diane so making a new one – already have it cut and just need to sew it together today. And I have 2 pieces of velcro I need to reposition for one set of Chase’s Leto straps.

Wasn’t planning on trying to do any fabric shopping while in atlanta, but now that I’ve got this Leia fabric kinda thinking about it. But I’d rather just get to the hotel and settle in. I think I’ll just order some swatches today so hopefully they’re here by the time I get home.

Anyway, here’s the final line-up:

Padme Packing Gown – no firm plans on when I will be wearing this – may wear it Thursday evening.

Lady Jessica – will for sure be wearing Saturday morning. Would like to wear it a second time and if I do it’ll be Sunday afternoon. But not sure I will get into a second time.

Bespin Leia – only wearing Friday morning for Leia shoot.

Diane – this is a dealer’s room/late night costume. Planning on wearing it friday afternoon for dealer’s room expedition.

Raddus Leia – friday night for the big star wars shoot, with Chase in TLJ Luke.

Arwen Hope – not sure. Thought about friday night after the star wars shoot for evening at bree but I think we are doing our bob’s burgers group that night. might put it on sat or sun afternoon. Might not wear it. Who knows.

Padme Lake Gown – will prob put this on sunday morning. Will just be recreating pics from 2002 and not really hanging around in it long.

Dr Crusher – another late night or dealer’s room costume because it’s easy to move on. Not sure which night it’ll be.

Scarlet Witch – same here.

Bob – probably late night friday with our silly little group.

Soooo thats all I got… see yall on the other side.
